At Yogoda Stay & Retreat, we offer a new style of travel: a wellness retreat here in Hase, Nagano, Japan. Join us to revitalize your body, mind, and spirit.

To take part in our retreat means to “step away from daily life for a time to refresh, reflect on yourself, and reconnect with your true self.” It is a popular style of wellness around the world. Wellness retreats focused on health are widely embraced, where people take short or extended breaks to practice meditation, yoga, detox, or mindfulness.

At Yogoda Retreat, we provide a welcoming environment where you can enjoy your time in nature, along with revitalizing wellness classes such as yoga and meditation

Yoga and Meditation

This retreat centers around morning and evening yoga sessions combined with guided meditation. By aligning with the rhythms of nature and the flow of your breath, you can gently connect with your inner self.

Yoga is not only a practice to enhance flexibility and strength, but also a way to cultivate inner calm. Movements performed with mindful breathing help balance the nervous system, gently releasing stress and tension.

Meditation, on the other hand, offers a moment to quiet the waves of thought and deeply connect with the present. Through your senses, you will merge with nature, reset your mind, and sharpen your awareness—an experience of rare luxury not often found in bustling daily life.

Step away from the noise of the city, and in this serene and harmonious environment, discover the simple yet profound comfort of simply “being here.”

Vegetarian Thali

Meals

During the retreat, meals are regarded as an essential part of restoring balance to both body and mind. We prepare menus with great care, focusing on ingredients, flavors, and nutrition.

Breakfast features a Japanese-style vegetarian menu, centered around seasonal vegetables sourced locally whenever possible. Light yet nourishing, it supports a gentle start to the day without burdening the body. Fermented foods, whole grains, and fresh seasonal produce are thoughtfully incorporated to ensure both digestibility and nutritional balance.

For dinner, we serve a plate centered on aromatic Indian curry, rich in spices known for promoting circulation and supporting detoxification. These warming flavors gently restore the body after the day’s activities. As with breakfast, we use as many local, plant-based ingredients as possible, creating meals that are both wholesome and satisfying.

Each dish is prepared with the intention of bringing joy to the body and ease to the heart. Just like yoga and meditation, mealtimes here are a quiet practice of self-care—an opportunity to nourish yourself and savor the simple act of eating.

Relaxation

At this retreat, we believe that simply spending time in nature can itself be deeply healing. The scent of the forest, the songs of birds, the sound of the wind—here, separated from the rhythm of everyday life, the air is filled with a sense of ease that allows you to forget time and gently unwind.

During the day, you’ll have free time to relax at your own pace between wellness classes. You might try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on the lake, explore the surrounding countryside and streams by rental bicycle, or enjoy the simple delight of playing by the riverside—an unforgettable summer indulgence.

Within our shared spaces, you’ll find cozy corners for reading, where you can lose yourself in a book, as well as comfortable sofas for quiet rest. And when you feel like connecting, natural conversations and warm encounters with other retreat participants often arise, creating a sense of community without pressure.

Here, embraced by nature, both body and mind can return to a state of freedom. Come and experience this gentle, liberating flow of time for yourself.

*All scheduled activities are optional. Please feel free to join at your own pace. Kindly note that meals will not be reserved or set aside if you are absent during mealtime.

*For guests joining a one-night retreat, the program begins with the 4:00 PM yoga asana class on the first day and concludes after breakfast the following morning.
